The Economics Of The Common Good: A Theoretical Framework For Assessing The Impact On Public And Private Organizations

Abstract
The Common Good Economy supports an alternative economic system based on a set of values that questions the current capitalist model, which is criticized for its disconnection from the economy and social and environmental well-being. The central idea is that all economic activity should be oriented towards the achievement of the common good, understood as the improvement of the well-being of all members of an economy. In this context, the present study identifies the characteristics of the Common Good Economy (ECG), examines its impact and application in both public and private entities. Furthermore, the use of tools associated with this economic perspective in these organizations is investigated. The main findings reveal that the central focus and application of this movement have been on profit-making organizations, in contrast to its macro-level impact on municipalities and regions, highlighting improvements in terms of sustainability and business performance. Additionally, its expansion, execution, and evaluation have primarily taken place in the European continent, with minimal impact in Latin America. Finally, the adoption of this perspective represents a challenge for organizations, universities, and the financial system, as it implies a reevaluation and redirection of traditional approach.
