Corporate social responsibility in the fishing industry of the Province of Santa Elena, 2013

Abstract

The present research work was carried out with the purpose of assessing Corporate Social Responsibility in the fishing industry of the province of Santa Elena, 2013 ”. His analysis focused on obtaining specific knowledge about the fishing activity, from an international level to concretize the realities of the province of Santa Elena in Ecuador and its close relationship with social responsibility, which this sector should maintain in its sphere of action. Within the applied methodology, several sources were used such as national and international administration newspapers, development plans, external and local regulations, among others; generating a holistic vision of what social responsibility and fishing activity implies, both industrial and artisanal. As a result of the research study, it is concluded that this fishing sector is an important source of economic income but at the same time food, generating a dilemma when applying restrictions, because not only large organizations are affected but also small artisans are involved. It is therefore necessary to be aware of the negative impact of bad fishing practices that affect not only marine species, but the entire ecosystem.
